Two-Day Experience on Mount Parnassos – Hiking and Rock Climbing
Activity Description
A two-day experience in North-Eastern Mount Parnassus with hiking, overnight camping, and an introduction to rock climbing techniques, under the guidance of experienced Mountain Guide Giannis Konstantakis.
On Saturday 30/05, we will transfer to the heart of Mount Parnassus, to the chapel of Agios Ioannis o Kynegi, at the location Perdikovrysi, a site of unique beauty, at approximately 1000m altitude, surrounded by dense fir trees and flowing water. From there, we will head south towards the “Bogdan” ravine, moving continuously through the dense forest of the Parnassus National Park for 5 kilometers, following the trail of the “Parnassus Trail” race, up to the highest point of the route, at approximately 1500 meters. Then, still following the same trail, we will descend westwards, reaching the “Karkavelia” ravine at 1360 meters altitude, where the “Battle of Souvala” took place.
An idyllic setting which also seems like the perfect place to spend a night in nature, accompanied by the pleasant “challenges” that our team will make feel like a game. There, in the sounds of nature, we will enjoy the meal prepared for us (including vegan options), and then we will sleep in our tents under the starry sky.
Our adaptation to nature has already begun, leaving behind every sign of civilization. In the heart of the fir forest, among the melodies of singing birds alternating with the silence of the woods, we will have the time and opportunity to fully connect with nature and gain high levels of energy and well-being, until we manage to “breathe in” all the spring energy we need ahead of summer, until our next outdoor excursion.
But the activity continues:
On Sunday 31/05, after enjoying a morning wake-up with local delicacies that we will have prepared for you, we will hike for 2 km, reaching the beautiful location “Msklitsa”, where we will arrive at the climbing rock inside the fir forest. A presentation of the climbing equipment and an introduction to the main climbing techniques will prepare you for the activity. The rock at this specific site is small and ideal for beginners and children. We will climb safely using top-rope protection.
Finally, hiking again through the forest for approximately 3 km, we return to the starting point, the chapel of Agios Ioannis o Kynegi, where we board our vehicles and return to Amfikleia.
The purpose of the program is, first and foremost, connection with the natural environment, away from any trace of civilization, and then “play” on the rocks (!!!). Through this experience, you will feel the beneficial effects of outdoor activities and especially climbing, which exercises both mind and body in a unique way.
